Digital Signage Best Practice Award 2011

At viscom, International Trade Fair for Visual Communication, Technology and Design, the Digital Signage Best Practice Award was now presented to the best applications realised in 2011. There were prizes in the categories of Retail Signage, Interactive Signage, Guiding Signage and Information Signage as well as a special award.

More than 30 companies from all parts of Europe had entered the competition, 14 were nominated for the award. The nominees and winners presented themselves to the visitors at the Digital Signage World at viscom. Miele and the realising agency people interactive GmbH won the Digital Signage Best Practice Award in the „Retail Signage“ category for a spectacular project at the Berlin „Miele Gallerie Unter den Linden“ store. The interactive virtual configuration of kitchen modules is used in the Miele flagship store. The application offers gesture-controlled navigation with added haptic navigation elements.

A project from the gastronomic segment is the winner in the Interactive Signage category. Guests at the Holyfields restaurant chain can choose and order their food and drinks via an interactive ordering system. The system including the software were realised by Scala. Other partners involved were Newroom Media and the Ippolito Fleitz Group.

The determining factors for the jury’s decision in the „Guiding Signage“ category were the interactive component and the screen design of this digital signage solution. A customer information and guiding system commissioned by ECE Projektmanagement and realised by dimedis is the winner. Throughout the shopping centre, the system reliably guides the customer to the desired shop. The system serves as a planning and marketing tool for the centre management and turns into an active element in customer communication.

The „Campus Media“ media network implemented by CPP Studios Event GmbH for IBM was awarded the prize in the „Information Signage“ Category. The Special Award goes to digital signage projects of an unusual kind and extraordinary quality: The „MultiTOUCH counter“ project for the customer MANN-FILTER.
