Most of the installations are plain displays mounted to the wall or standard totems. Embarcadero Center in downtown San Francisco – a complex of four office buildings, the Hyatt regency hotel and various shopping and food outlets – sticks out of the crowd.

The totems are the most beautiful directories we have seen. The frosted, backlit glass totems feature a very sleek design, are well located and offer non-frill information. The user interface – also enabled for visitors with reduced mobility – focuses on relevant information. No gimmicks except live departure times of the metro and current weather. Attractive and well-designed motion graphic content is shown when the totems are not actively used.
