NEC supplies 226 m² Outdoor LED Media Wall to Media24 in Cape Town

Extra-Large visual solutions on facades are the stronghold of LED Modules. A market formerly dominated by a few specialist. In the last years Chinese manufactures are omni-present – a challenge for established players like Draktronics, NEC or Yesco (now part of Samsung). A recent project in Cape Town choose NEC as their LED supplier.

The 60x40m (226 sqm) outdoor LED wall, reaching from the 4th to 8th floor at the side of the Media24 building in Cape Town, South Africa, comprising 896 modules with a total of 1.5 Mio LEDs, weighing 26 tons including the structure and about a kilometer of cabelling.

Digital Signage systems integrator Avicom together with Eyecom and Electrosonic realized this project. According to NEC the customer choose LEDs from NEC Display Solutions because of quality,, warranty conditions and the lowest power consumption available. This video shows the „Making Of“
