The Hilfiger Denim store on the main Amsterdam shopping street Kalverstraat has an interesting digital signage solution in place. Usually the fashion retailer employs a very similar concept in all of its stores. Here, a 3x2 video wall is integrated in the furnishing of the shop window. The used displays are 42” video wall displays with ultra thin bezl. The loop consists of image and lifestyle videos with fast cuts. The content is quite raw, this however is intended as it supports the look and feel of the product denim.

The installation is made properly and leaves a professional impression, only the many items in the shop window like mannequins and stickers obstruct the view from the installation very much. In such a case the content should be different, ideally only very basic ambient and mood images and videos are used.

The other digital signage installation in the Hilfiger store is however a great example of a perfectly conceptualized solution. Next to the main denim jeans shelf two 42” displays are mounted in portrait format on top of each other to create a life-size video wall column. The technical integration into the shop furnishing is good, but the best part is the content. It is very simple and resembles a revolving poster with a tablet app touch and feel. The images shown are simple animated stills of the different product categories and sizes. Here a very basic system together with location based clear cut content creates a very engaging customer experience.
